ANNE KMETYKO

Née à Montréal, Anne Kmetyko est une cinéaste canado-hongroise de première génération, dont les films explorent la condition humaine à travers les thèmes de l'identité et de la mémoire et ont été projetés localement et à l’international dans le cadre du circuit des festivals. 

Sa dernière œuvre, le court métrage de fiction Si seulement…peut-être... a été sélectionné dans 11 festivals internationaux et récompensée par un Rémi de bronze lors de la 56e édition du WorldFest de Houston. Reconnue pour son talent, Anne a été sélectionnée pour le Talent Lab 2023 du Festival international du film de Reykjavik en Icelande, un incubateur pour les cinéastes émergents, et a obtenu une place parmi les huit participants au Pitch des Scénaristes Film de l'Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision 2024.

Son parcours de réalisatrice a débuté avec le court métrage, Mondo Karma, en 2003, suivi de The Cat in the Pan, tourné en Super 16, et sélectionné en compétition à la 28e édition des Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois.

En 2013, Anne a fait preuve de polyvalence en écrivant, produisant et réalisant deux courts métrages : Truths and Liars, qui raconte l'initiation d'un jeune homme à la corruption, et Graveurs d’images, un documentaire qui explore le monde des tatoueurs d'Europe et d'Amérique. Ce dernier a été sélectionné dans la compétition officielle de Cinequest24 et du Dam Short Film Festival en 2015.

Diplômée en photographie du programme Image Arts de l'Université Ryerson, Anne a d'abord perfectionné son art en se concentrant sur le portrait, l'éditorial et le documentaire. Sa passion pour la réalisation l'a amenée à être sélectionnée pour le programme de réalisation télévisuelle de L'INIS et le programme Women in the Director's Chair du Banff Center. Anne a enrichi ses compétences en obtenant un certificat en journalisme de l'Université Concordia en 2012 et une maîtrise en études cinématographiques de l'Université de Montréal en 2020.

Elle développe actuellement son premier long métrage intitulé The Space Between et la web série Murray Hill.

Born in Montreal, Anne Kmetyko is a first-generation Canadian-Hungarian filmmaker, whose films explore the human experience through themes of identity and memory and have screened locally and internationally on the festival circuit.

Her latest work, the short fiction film If...Then...Now... has screened in 11 international festivals, earning a Bronze Remi at the 56th WorldFest Houston. Recognized for her emerging talent, Anne was selected for the 2023 Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab, an incubator for debut feature filmmakers, and secured a spot as one of eight participants in the 2024 Screenwriters Pitch with L’Académie Canadienne du Cinéma et de la Télévision.

Anne's filmmaking journey began with her debut short film, Mondo Karma, in 2003, followed by the visually striking The Cat in the Pan, shot in Super 16, which competed in the 28th edition of the Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois. In 2013, Anne showcased her versatility, writing, producing, and directing two compelling short films: Truths and Liars, about the initiation of a young man into corruption, and Etched in Skin, a documentary exploring the world of tattoo artists from Europe and America. The latter earned a spot in the official competition at Cinequest24 and the Dam Short Film Festival in 2015.

A graduate of the Image Arts program at Ryerson University, with a specialization in Photography, Anne initially honed her craft focusing on portraiture, editorial and documentary. Her passion for directing led her to be selected for the television directing program at L’INIS and the Women in the Director’s Chair program at The Banff Center. Anne further enriched her skill set, obtaining a certificate in journalism from Concordia in 2012 and earning her Master's degree in Film Studies from the University of Montreal in 2020.

Currently, she is developing her first feature titled The Space Between and the web series Murray Hill.
